Students in Standard Economics are able to participate in an essay contest sponsored by the Federal Reserve. Completion of a "Hot Topics in the News" essay can be submitted in lieu of the Creativity Project. Participation in this essay contest represents the only extra-credit activity offered to students during the semester. The point value of this activity is identical to that of the Creativity Project. Extra credit is earned by students who receive at least an 80% on the essay and then correct it for entry in the essay contest. Students are encouraged to participate in this activity. At the end of the school year, winning essay writers are recognized in a special dinner and awards ceremony at the Federal Reserve downtown. Please refer to the following links for more information about the essay contest. |
